Francisco Teles da Gama

Francisco Teles da Gama is an Art Historian and Writer.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in History, a Master's degree in Medieval History and is currently a PhD Candidate in Art History at the Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa, with a grant from the Foundation for Science and Technology, I. P.

His research topic is titled “The Masters of the Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória - Itineraries and Artistic Transfers in Europe from 1388 to 1515.” Researcher at ARTIS - FLUL's Art History Institute, in the Architectural History Hub.

Francisco Teles da Gama has carried out archive and research work in museums and monuments such as the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, the Monastery of Batalha and the Museum of Lisbon, among others. He was a Member of the Committee for Leiria's candidacy to European Capital of Culture 2027.

He is the Founder and Director of FITA - Friends In The Arts and Editor of the international arts and culture publication FITA Magazine, honoured with the High Patronage of the President of the Portuguese Republic.

He coordinated the International FITA Awards of Literature, which led to the book Portrait of the Artist as a Writer (2022).

He published the book Cantiga para Poeta em Águas-Furtadas (2024) by Book Cover Editora.

He co-authored the artwork The Banquet of Eternity, which was exhibited at the Croatian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2024.
