Rafael Raposo Pires é um artista visual português cujo trabalho consiste em fotografias vídeo-performances e instalações produzidas a partir da experiência de derivas pedestres feita em diversos espaços urbanos. As suas obras procuram levantar questões em torno da mobilidade na paisagem construída e o quanto a arquitectura pode ser transformadora.

No início de 2026, Rafael recebeu a Bolsa PADA participando na Residência Internacional, e e 2025 foi selecionado para residência e exposição individual na Budapest Gallery. O seu trabalho foi publicado na Portuguese Emerging Art 2024, e participou no programa artístico Project SEEDS (PT, GR, ES). Em 2023 recebeu uma bolsa de mobilidade através do programa Culture Move Europe e expôs no KORA Contemporary Arts Centre, em Itália. Em 2022 foi selecionado para Bienal de Fotografia de Vila Franca de Xira, e participou nas residências artísticas AiR_Cachop (PT) e Default 22 (IT).

Rafael co-fundou o Estúdio Atilho, espaço multidisciplinar em Lisboa, onde editou Wanderings e 2025 em colaboração com a designer Mariana Ferreira. O estúdio co-organiza o círculo de artistas Belisco* e acolheu sete exposições coletivas nos últimos dois anos.

Fez uma pós-graduação em Arte Multimédia (2020) e outra em Discursos da Fotografia Contemporânea (2018) pela Faculdade de Belas-Artes de Lisboa. É licenciado em Fotografia e Cultura Visual (2017) pelo IADE em Lisboa, e estudou na BTK University em Berlim onde publicou o photobook Alone Together (2017).

Rafael Raposo Pires participa regularmente em exposições em Portugal e no estrangeiro desde 2018. As suas obras estão presentes em coleções privadas em Portugal, Itália e Bélgica.

Rafael Raposo Pires is a Portuguese visual artist whose body of work consists of photographs and video-performances produced while experiencing dérives made on diverse urban areas. His practice questions the notions of limits within constructed landscapes and how transformative architecture can be.

At the start of 2026 Rafael was granted the PADA Bursary to take part in their International Residency. In 2025 he was selected for a residency and solo exhibition at Budapest Gallery. His work was selected for the Portuguese Emerging Art 2024 publication, and he has participated in the European program Project SEEDS (PT, GR, ES). In 2023 he has received a Culture Move Europe mobility grant, and has exhibited at the KORA Contemporary Arts Center in Italy. In 2022 he was selected for the Bienal de Fotografia de Vila Franca de Xira in Portugal, and took part i the artist residencies AiR_Cachopo (PT) and Default 22 (IT).

Rafael has co-founded Estúdio Atilho, a multidisciplinary space based in Lisbon, where he has edited the Wanderings zine in 2025 in collaboration with the designer Mariana Ferreira. The studi co-organises the artist circle Belisco* and has hosted seven group shows during the last two years.

He holds a post-graduation in Multimedia Art (2020) and another in Contemporary Photography Speeches (2018) by the Faculty of Fine Arts In Lisbon. He has a BA in Photography and Visual Culture (2017) from IADE University in Lisbon, and enrolled at University of Europe in Berlin where he has published the photobook Alone Together (2017).

Rafael Raposo Pires has been exhibiting regularly in Portugal and abroad since 2018. His works are present in private collections in Portugal, Italy and Belgium.
