Born in Lisbon, in 1996. She studied Performing Arts at Escola Artística António Arroio, graduated in Painting at the Fine Arts Faculty of the University of Lisbon and completed her Master's degree in Arts and Cultural Enterprise at Central Saint Martins College, London.
Throughout her career, Madalena Pequit sought to integrate various projects and promote dialogue with other artists and players in the medium, highlighting the collective Vês.Três.
Currently, she works in her atelier at Casa da Dona Laura together with other artists.
Her artistic work has both an autobiographical and critical character. She uses writing as a research tool and addresses the barriers and challenges she encounters in her life as a visual artist.
She reflects on current issues, such as gender equality, the refugee crisis and asks herself about the role of art and the role of artists in contemporary society.
She has participated in two International Biennales: the Contextile Biennale, in Guimarães, in 2022, and the
ArtFem Macau Biennale of Women's Art, in Macau, in 2018. She was a finalist in art competitions, such as the Young Creators Art Prize, the International Art Prize and the Paula Rego Art Prize
Rego, and received an Honorable Mention at the Jovarte Biennial.
